Photo Friday - Farmers Market

Most farmers' markets have started up by now, and even if they don't have a lot of produce yet, they'll probably have plenty of plants and homemade goods. I love these thyme plants that I found at the Watauga Country Farmers' Market the other weekend. 

Go out and support your local farmers' market this weekend. You'll probably be surprised and delighted with what you find.

Its strawberry season! If you haven't made these strawberry shortcake sliders from Simply Recipes, you're missing out! I'm telling you, there is nothing like fresh, in-season strawberries, on a slightly sweet biscuit, with homemade whipped cream. I wish I had a whole plateful now.
 

Baby Platypus

Have you ever wondered what a baby platypus looks like? Well, my husband sent me a picture the other day that I just have to share.

Photo Friday - Garden Expansion

See the space in the middle with the pots and pile of dirt? That was our garden space last year. We rented a sod cutter, planning to expand by about 6 feet to the right. Clearly we got a little carried away, and now we have about 400 square feet to plant in this summer!

Bring on the good times! By the way, renting a sod cutter is totally worth the money. 

 

Apple Blossoms

Our apple trees started blossoming this week. I am praying we don't get a late frost like last year - we didn't get a single apple! Isn't it amazing that each bud will turn into a blossom and into an apple?!
